The United Republican Party (URP) was created in 1985 and was launched in 1987. At that time the United Republican Party had one specific goal and that was to change the government. In 1992, when this was accomplished, the party dissolved itself thinking the new administration would be lead with virtue, unfortunately this wasn’t the case. The URP was disappointed and has observed for the past two decades the governing of both major parties and how they have failed the people miserably.The time has come for the URP to rise and once again take a stand against the corruption and demoralization of the government.
The URP is a political movement with clear and specific policies that are focused on the people. It was created when honorable individuals like Dr. Bandhu and a few others heard the cries of the Guyanese people getting robbed, killed, battered, cheated, raped etc., and they saw that the people were unable to speak freely and fight for their rights because of the consequences they will face if they do.

When a group of concerned Guyanese listened to the cries of the Guyanese people getting robbed, killed, molested, cheated, raped, etc., when they visited their homeland. We recognized people could not speak out freely and if you challenge wrong doing you were sent to jail because there was no justice by the PNC dictatorship government.

Yes, the URPG was one of the main players in getting President Jimmy Carter to visit Guyana to examine conditions for a free and fair election and to get him to come and monitor Guyana’s 1992 general election.
Because he realizes Guyana needs a person who believe that all human being is created equally. He observed the racism, corruption and hate Guyana has endured in the last sixty years. It is his belief that he can truly bring change and end all transgressions. Dr. Bandhu does not see the color of the skin or the texture of the hair, he believes in equality for all people. Dr. Bandhu has also been a humanitarian, social worker, entrepreneur, businessman etc. all his life. The URP recognizes that he is the best suited person to lead this party. URP got no seats. Gecom gave URP 11,000 votes but no seats. The URP only decided to go to the poll five months before the Guyana General Election and was able to Contest election equally with the PPP, APNU, and the UF. No party in Guyana has ever done what the URP did in such a short time; we feel there was fraud in the election. Evidence exists that we received more votes than announced. It is well known that various acts of skullduggery were used in the lastGeneral elections. The results were not a true reflection of the will of the people.
Because the URP sees this government as taking advantage of the people and because of the corruption taking place by both the PNC/AFC and the PPP Governments. The URP has come to the realization that the URP party is the only answer for Guyana. Under our party, every Guyanese will have equal opportunity and they will experience real democracy.We will eliminate poverty and we will enrich Guyana. There will be no more racism.
